Omous Roumous, Levkas, Greece
Jocelyn on passage to Levkas, Greece
Just to the North of Cephalonia is the Greek Ionian island of Levkas. We set out this morning and caught the day breeze which blows from the NW at this time of year. The wind increased as the day progressed and we had to reef the sails to keep the boat under control. In a few short hours we had crossed the water between the two islands and we headed into the bay called Omous Roumous.
Dragonsinger at anchor in Omous Roumous
The wind was gusting as we approached the bay. It took a couple of tries to get the anchor to set in the windy conditions, but we finally settled in a few boat lengths off the beach. There were a few small hotels and restaurants on shore. We went for a walk, took in the mountains that ring the bay, and enjoyed the beach. At dusk, Karalee and I headed out to have dinner in one of the small family restaurants. While we love our children, we needed a night out alone to just enjoy time with each other. The wind had died and it was dark by the time we returned to the beach, launched the dinghy, and motored back to Dragonsinger.
