Fiskardo, Greece
Fishing Boats in Fiskardo
We traveled up the West side of Cephalonia yesterday as we went from Argostoli to Fiskardo. Located on the Northern end of Cephalonia, Fiskardo was the only town that was not destroyed in the 1953 earthquake. The buildings retain their Venetian charm as they look over the waterfront. As charter boats arrive the harbour fills up and people spill into the restaurants that line the quay.
Visitor's Dock
We got most of this year's school work finished before we left Malta, but there have been a few projects that needed to be completed. The last one was finished today and we made a special trip to the post office to send in the last few things. This is the second year that we have home schooled Jocelyn, Kevin, and Allen and it is a relief to finally be finished the school year. We pushed ourselves and the children during the winter and our reward is an extra two months of summer holidays which we will use to enjoy exploring Greece and Turkey.
Fiskardo at Dusk
To celebrate the last day of this school year, we all went out to dinner. We avoided the crowed area in the center of town and instead found a family-run restaurant on the edge of the harbour. The sun set as we were enjoying our dinner and as the lights came on they were reflected in the perfectly still water.
