Horsenden Hill Golf Course

After Ealing Road Bridge, the feeling of the walk quickly changes from urban industrial to much more rural. The walk takes you past the rolling hills of Horsenden Hill Golf Course.

While this is a walking tour, it is important to remember that this is a working canal. The canal system in England was established to be a way of moving bulk goods over long distances. What we walk on today are two paths -- a place where barges could be towed by horses pulling barges. Horses were eventually replaced by engines and barges were then replaced by trains, but canals formed an important part of the English transportation system.
