Aug 1, 2010: Last Day in Bodrum

It is our last day on Van Kedisi, at least for this trip. We hang around "The Aquarium", read books, and start packing, before pulling up anchor and motoring back to Bodrum. Dick gets us anchored, then he ferries us ashore in the dinghy so that we can all spend our final afternoon shopping and touring Bodrum.

It has been a fantastic week. The weather has been hot, the water cool, and the winds have blown in the right direction all week. It has been special for Dick to share his time on Van Kedisi with us.

Dick picks us up in the late afternoon. Sharra, Allen, and Karalee have gotten henna tattoos. They cannot swim as it will wash off some of the henna, so Dick and David go for a final swim in Bodrum harbor.

We all get packed and then dressed. Dick ferries us ashore once more and we all walk along the Bodrum water front to Sunger Pizza. Over seven years ago the Leighton and Greer families shared a meal at Sunger Pizza. It seems fitting that our last night together, we share another. We eat upstairs and enjoy the view over the marina to the castle.

After dinner, we walk back to the center of Bodrum. We say goodbye to Van Kedisi and then Dick ferries the four of us, plus all of our luggage, to and from the boat. It takes three trips, but soon we are all standing on shore. Our time in Bodrum over, as we prepare to walk to the Otogar (bus station) in order to catch a bus to Bodrum, Airport. The next stop is Germany.
