Back to Porto Cristo, Spain
Porto Cristo Harbour
We were up before daylight as we cast off from Palma. We spent two months in Mallorca, part of the Balearic islands of Spain . While we enjoyed our time here we are looking forward to moving on. We motor-sailed through light winds as Karalee and Jocelyn took first watch. When David and Kevin took over the second watch, Dragonsinger was rounding Pta. de las Salinas, the southern-most point of the island.
As we rounded the point the wind picked up right on the nose and the sky was dark and threatening. After pounding into waves and with the threat of thundershowers we decided that it wasn't worth it to cross to Menorca and instead put into Porto Cristo. This almost felt like home, as we visited this port at the end of March when we had our friend Bobbie Robinson visiting us.
Harbour Entrance
We settled in and as the sun was setting the wind died down. What a contrast to the last time we were here. Then, Dragonsinger was rolling so hard at the dock that we almost broke a dock line. And the entrance was filled with a raging sea that smashed against the sides sending spray shooting into the air. Today, the entrance looked innocent in the calmness of the evening. We knew that this time we would have a good night's sleep in Porto Cristo and be ready for our trip to Menorca. Maybe tomorrow Mallorca will be ready to let us go.
