Brittany, France
Tréguier Port
We have arrived in Brittany (or Bretagne as it is known in French) after driving another 395 kilometers (making our two day total 1,115km). We settle into our new home and in the afternoon start exploring the nearby villages. We are staying near Lannion, a major center in Northern Brittany, in the Côte D'Armor department.
Rather than explore Lannion, we head East to the nearby town of Tréguier. Built on the River Jaudy and River Guindy, it includes a port capable of handling big ships. This is unusual in Northern Brittany as many of the ports have shallow entrances that are nearly dry at low tide.
Port Blanc
We followed the estuary that leads from the River Jaudy and then headed East along the Northern coast until we reached Port Blanc. This small fishing village and seaside resort gave us more typical views of the area. The children even went up to their knees in the water.
We once again drove along the coast until we found a magnificent beach. The tide was out so we had to walk 200m to the water's edge. Jocelyn went swimming where she reported the water about as cold as it is in Vancouver in the summer. Kevin and Allen played in the sand and built a castle until it was time for us to return home and get ready for another day of school tomorrow.
