Camden Town is about two-thirds of the way along our walk. I actually walked Regents Canal in two stages (about two years apart). I first walked from Camden Town to Little Venice. Later, I walked from Limestone Basin to Camden Town. The total walk should take about three hours.
It is easy to start or stop your walk at Camden Town. There is regular tube service to Central London from Camden Town. The upper right-hand portion of this picture shows popular pubs which you can use as a rest stop. Maps and books on the canel are available at the Regents Canal Information Center.
There are several locks on Camden Town. Most appear to be manually operated. In the 16th and 17th century, the Mitre Lock was invented. This lock formed an angle pointing upstream. For the small locks of Regents Canal, the Mitre Lock was ideal for boat operators to open without machinery.
