Ducks

After passing the North Circular Aqueduct, our route continues through Alperton on our way to Ealing. Once the Grand Union Canal opened in 1801, Alperton started changing from an agricultural economy to a local center for brick and tile manufacture.


Fisherperson

As you walk along the canal, it is common to pass a single fisherperson or small groups fishing together. The walk continues into Ealing. By the 18th century, Ealing was well established as an area where you escaped from London to your rural country home. Looking at the density of Ealing today, it's difficult to remember that it was a long ways from the center of London before the days of convenient transportation.
