Bourton-on-the-Water
We had a pub lunch in Great Rissington, then continued on through
Little Rissington on our way to high tea in Bourton-on-the-Water.
It is not difficult to see why so many tourists visit this
picturesque village, but after almost a full day of walking
through small roads, fields, and villages,
the crowds at Bouton-on-the-Water
came as a bit of a shock.
Windrush River
After having our high tea, we continued along the Windrush River
on our way to Lower Slaughter. We only had to go a few hundred
meters to feel that we had left the crowds of
Bouton-on-the-Water behind. As the sun started to set, we once
again felt like we were in the country following our landmark for
the day, the Windrush River.
About 5:30 in the afternoon we arrived at the small
town of Lower Slaughter. Most of us felt that we had walked
enough for the first day of our Cotswolds walk, so we took a ride
to the town of Stow-on-the-Wold.
