Karalee in the Early Morning Light at Tugboat Island
Our final day saw the sun breaking through the cloud cover. The marine forecast was for an unusual SW wind at 10-15 knots. After walking the docks to stretch our legs, we cast off. After leaving Silva Bay and the Flat Top Islands, we had all the sails up on Sea Bird.
It was fabulous broad reach sailing in 12-17 knots of apparent wind. Exactly the conditions that make Sea Bird go. We made good time crossing Georgia Straight. After passing the Point Grey Bell Buoy, we headed for False Creek. After filling with diesel, we moored Sea Bird at the Cooper Boating docks on Granville Island. Our passage was complete. Sea Bird was in Vancouver and at her home for the next three months.
Karalee and David were thrilled with how Sea Bird performed. Being on board brought back so many fond memories of our previous Catalina 34. We now look forward to all the new ones we will create with each other, our children, and our grandson Diego.
