December 31, 2019: A Two Family Boat Trip and New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve 2019 was a big day in the life of the Greer and Guerrero Cintora families. We had booked an all day boat and beach day. Since it was New Year's Eve, we had also booked a New Year's celebration at the restaurant of a hotel next to the marina.

There are so many photos and parts to our day that we have broken it up into sections. You can jump directly to one of these sections by clicking on a link below.

The Morning

Before heading off for the day David along with Jocelyn and Daniel took a little time to play with Grandson Diego. It was so special to have our Grandson and the rest of our family together with us for the holidays.

Boat Trip

It takes a lot to get two families of fourteen people with three children organized. We all pulled together and after getting picked up at our respective places, we were dropped off at Santa Cruz Huatulco. This the marina in Huatulco and the base for all the charter tour boats. After a short wait we joined our boat and Captain, loaded up, and headed out into the Pacific Ocean.

Diving

After heading East from Santa Cruz Huatulco our Captain drove around a headland and slowed down as we entered a bay. There was a long and low sandy beach in front of us. Daniel's parents, Maria and Gilberto, got off at the beach along with Carlos and Montse's children Emila and Ximena. The adults that had stopped at the beach jumped on the boat where the Captain anchored next to the diving site. We all put on masks, snorkels, and fins. Then it was time to enter the water to look at the fish.

Lunch

After getting everyone safely back into the boat it was time for lunch. The diving beach had no amenities, so our Captain headed out around another headland to Playa El Maguey. There was a beach crowded with fishing boats, tourists, tour boats, and a line up of restaurants. Our Captain took us to a specific restaurant where we all sat down to lunch.

Final Beach

After lunch our Captain took us around another headland to our final beach of the day: Bahía del Orgáno (Organo Bay). It looked like a sand dune. We anchored off and then waded ashore. We split up into smaller groups all exploring up and down the beach. There were very few other people. The beach has no road access, so either you walk in or come by boat. As the sun was setting we took some final photos, before heading back to Santa Cruz Huatulco.

Back at Santa Cruz Huatulco

New Year's Eve

After returning to the marina, we all headed home for a short break. Before long we were back at Santa Cruz Huatulco where we had booked New Year's Eve at a beach side hotel and restaurant. There were fourteen of us, including three children. We were assigned one long table in the outdoor sitting area. Drinks were flowing while we waited for the excellent buffet to be ready to serve everyone. Delicious prawns and steaks were cooked on the grill.

After dinner the two families continued visiting. Just before midnight party hats were handed out to all of us. Some of us made our way to the beach where many people from Huatulco had showed up. A fabulous fireworks display greeted us at midnight. We all hugged and celebrated the start of 2020.
