July 30, 2010: Ova Buku Back to Mersincik

Leaving the Dock Where the Leighton's and Greer's First Met

This morning, Dick, Karalee, and David, went for a 45 minute walk along the roads around Ova Buku. We stop for morning coffee at Ogun's Place, before diving into the warm Mediterranean Sea to cool off. Daily highs have been over 35C. When the wind is calm it is incredibly hot. Even the sea temperature is warm, about 25C, so jumping in is cooling, not freezing.

We left around 11:00 with little wind. We motor towards Knidos where we stayed our second night. About half way there a lone dolphin comes and swims with Van Kedisi. We all rush to the bow where the dolphin swims along with Van Kedisi exactly matching our speed through the water. We take as many pictures as we can, enjoying the sight of our dolphin surfacing and swimming along with us.

Beyond Knidos we round Deveboynu Burun. The wind has come up and clocked around so that it is now from a direction that let's us sail. We sail for an hour until the dying wind forces us to put on the engine to finish our trip to Mersincik. We stayed here the first night we traveled with Van Kedisi, just five days ago.

A relaxing swim, making dinner, eating together in the cockpit are all part of the end of our day. As a group we've fallen into a nice on board rhythm. It has been fabulous sharing Van Kedisi with Dick Leighton. In some ways it seems like yesterday since we were last here at the end of our two year Mediterranean Adventure.
