March, 2008: San Diego - Part III
Balboa Park, San Diego
Our last day in San Diego gave us blue skies and warm temperatures. Exactly what we had wanted when we decided to come to San Diego in the depths of a Vancouver winter. We had breakfast at the Italian cafe next to the hotel and then headed off to explore Balboa Park. Most visitors think of Balboa Park as home to the San Diego Zoo, one of San Diego's biggest attractions. While most people go to the park to see the zoo, the park itself is well worth a visit.

There are numerous buildings and gardens to explore. Much of the park was constructed for the 1915-16 Panama-California Exposition. There is a wide variety of architectural styles to explore as you wander around.

We wanted a break from routine and Vancouver's grey winter weather. San Diego granted us our wish. There are lots of things to explore, the people are friendly, and there is lots to see and do. If the last couple of pictures are any indication, we had a pretty good time on our trip to San Diego.
