July, 2004: Gulf Island Cruise - Part III

Ganges to Silva Bay

Ganges, located on Salt Spring Island, is the largest of the Gulf Islands. During the summer months, there is a Saturday market in the center of town. We always enjoy Ganges and the whole family made a trip into town to see the market.

Jocelyn's friend Adele took the ferry to Long Harbour so that she could join us. Adele had never been sailing before, so we sailed over to Montague Harbour, the first marine park established in British Columbia. After an evening there, we had a boisterous sail over to Ganges where we anchored out while shopping for groceries. We returned to Scott Point in Long Harbour before heading North to Silva Bay where we ended our check-out and repair cruise onboard Dragonsinger.

Culture
Lots of languages on the packaging

We shipped Dragonsinger back from the Mediterranean with whatever dry goods were onboard after our 2500 kilometre passage from Turkey to Spain. This means that there are packages with Turkish, Greek, Italian, and Spanish writing, along with Canadian cereal boxes with English and French.
