Eufimia, Cephalonia, Greece
Eufimia
Yesterday, we sailed from Vathi, Ithaca to Eufimia on the island of Cephalonia. Cephalonia is the island where we first started our exploration of the Greek Ionian islands. It has been a busy two weeks, but we have a lot more exploring to do in Greece and Turkey, so we will be moving on in a day or two.
Bjorn and Cecilia on Waltzing Matilda
We came to Eufimia to meet Bjorn and Cecilia on their sailboat Waltzing Matilda. They are another cruising family with three children, two of which are onboard. Waltzing Matilda spent the winter in Gaeta, Italy, the same port where Nowornot spent the winter. We visit with Bjorn and Cecilia who are from Norway. Their oldest child is in university in Norway. With them are sixteen year old Anundreas and ten year old Annetta. While we visit with the adults, all of the kids head off to find a basketball court.
Beach at Eufimia
Later I explore the beach and take pictures of Eufimia. It's our first grey and rainy day in the Ionian. We eat dinner early and invite all of the kids onboard Dragonsinger to watch a movie. With the cabin crowded with kids, Karalee and I go for a walk. The town is small and most of the buildings are new, but many are covered with vines and flowers. We stop for a coffee at a local restaurant, then head back to Dragonsinger to watch the end of Star Wars Episode II with the kids.
