Finikas, Siros, Greece
Dragonsinger in Finikas
We are back in the Cyclades. Yesterday, we left Lavrion at 07:00 and motored and sailed our way to the island of Siros. We had to use our own anchor to moor on the quay in Finikas. Finikas has a nice harbour and is located on the South of Siros, so we are protected from the Meltemi which blows from the North. Our stern is directly into the wind, so any gusts blow us off the dock.
Having a Picnic
We decided to have a beach picnic today. Jocelyn wants some time alone, so Karalee, Kevin, Allen, and I take the dinghy across the bay. There are only a few people on the beach -- a mixture of locals and tourists. We spread out our blankets and enjoy our picnic lunch in the shade of some trees.
Allen Playing on the Beach
After lunch I have a nap while the boys play. They do some swimming, then Allen starts making a sand castle on the beach. I sit up and enjoy the view of the bay spread out behind Allen as he keeps busy with his project.
Relaxing at a Restaurant
Later we return to Dragonsinger and after getting cleaned up, Karalee and I go for a walk into town. There are a couple of grocery stores and a bakery, so we're able to stock up with a few supplies. We stop at a shore side restaurant and have a drink together in the shade as we look out over the fishing boats moored in Finikas.
