Last Day With Van Kedisi
Akbuk Limani
We are going to cross Gökova Körfezi one more time. Fortunately it is only five to ten nautical miles (10-20 kilometres) wide so our passages are quite short. We leave the pretty dock at Akbuk Limani and head out into the bay in perfectly calm seas. We expected that we would have to motor the whole way, but once we clear the entrance to the bay the wind quickly builds to F6. Because we were not expecting a rough passage we had been sloppy about putting things away and as we heel over a few items fly across the main cabin. Van Kedisi flies along and I try and take a few pictures of her from the heaving deck of Dragonsinger.
Van Kedisi in Kargilibuk
Our last night together is in Kargilibuk. We anchor Dragonsinger, but the water is deep and the anchor doesn't hold. A Gulet leaves the anchorage and we quickly move to take its spot. A constant problem for us in Turkey has been anchoring. Even close to shore the water is deep and we feel like we need 20m more chain to make anchoring easier and safer.

The kids play and swim together one last time. I take the dinghy and shoot a few pictures of our anchorage. Before dinner, Karalee and I go over to Van Kedisi for drinks. It has been a fun, although busy, week together. Dick and Marian have another week's holiday, but tomorrow morning it is time for us to head back to Bodrum. We'll be back in Vancouver ten short days from now.
