Kevin Turns Eleven
Kevin and his presents
It's hard to believe, but when we left on our great adventure Kevin was only nine. Today he turns eleven and we celebrate with a birthday onboard Dragonsinger as we continue to spend time in Split. Wherever you are children find birthday's exciting and Kevin was prepared to enjoy his.
Kevin, Bob, and Allen
Just across the dock from Dragonsinger we met a family from the Netherlands. They were spending three weeks on their boat in Croatia. Robert and Suzanne were still making a final few adjustments to the boat and their son Bob happened to be the same age as Kevin. Coming from the Netherlands, Bob spoke excellent English and while Kevin and Allen took a few moments to overcome their initial shyness, the three boys were soon playing together. It was a nice surprise for Kevin's birthday that he was able to meet someone else his own age.
Jumping and swimming
Later in the day Jocelyn, Kevin, Bob, and Allen discovered a 10 meter (30 foot) ledge where they could jump into the sea. It was a little nerve racking for all of the parents, but the children thought the jump was fantastic. If there was any consolation, Allen didn't want to make the leap, but he was happy to swim in the water at the base of the cliffs.
For Kevin's birthday we walk into Split with Bob, Robert, and Suzanne. We find a nice pizza restaurant near the town walls and settle in for dinner. After dinner we walk through the narrow Split streets where we find an ice cream shop ready to offer up a final treat for Kevin's birthday.
